  • NACo, (National Association of Counties) together with iCivics, has created an online game, "Counties Work," to educate students, grades 6 through 12, about the important role and functions of county government by letting them run their own county. A curriculum and web quest has also been developed to assist teachers with preparing lessons on county government.

    2012 Summer Playground Program
    Come and join the fun. The Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department is announcing its 2012 Summer Playground Program. The summer playground program starts July 9 and runs through August 2. Playground is Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, at five different locations throughout the county. The summer playground cost is $5.00 per child for four days.

    2012 Lake Thom-A-Lex Park Fishing Tournaments
    The Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring two fishing touranments this year at Lake Thom-A-Lex Park. The first tournament is a Crappie tournament on Saturday, April 28, starting at 7:30 am, and the second tournament is a Catfish tournament on Saturday, May 19, starting at 5:00 pm.

    Zumba Fitness Class
    Looking for a great Cardio Workout, the Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department is announcing its next four Zumba sessions. Classes are being offered on Mondays and Thursdays, starting April 2 through August 2. Cost is $20.00 for five classes or $25.00 for eight classes. Learn from a certified Zumba instructor.
