Will provide advanced, professional level casework including protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse. Will provide social work services including treatment and immediate response to crisis situations for at-risk children in the most complex cases in the social services department. Work involves investigation of alleged neglect and abuse, substantiation of the alleged neglect or abuse as prescribed by federal and state guidelines, providing expert testimony in court hearings, and following-up with case management and preventive services for clients. Will analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action immediately or in short time spans and often under very stressful conditions. May provide group, family or individual treatment to clients of any age and any developmental, mental, medical, substance abuse, financial or family problem. May have combined investigative and treatment roles.

Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (applies to child welfare positions only); Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work including completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (applies to child welfare positions only) and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of directly related experience; or four-year degree in a human services field from an accredited college/university and three years of directly related experience; four-year degree from an accredited college/university and four years of directly related experience; of Masters degree in counseling from an accredited college/university in a human services field and two years of directly related experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Copies of all college transcripts must be submitted with application.

Should be able to communicate clearly and assess and monitor client's physical, mental and emotional status and document work performed. Should be able to act quickly to protect from unpredictable behavior. Should be mobile to access various environments. Also, requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle and must possess a valid N. C. Drivers license. Should have an automobile available to transport self to and from work and transport clients when needed.
