Collapse/Expand  Duties
Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of the grounds at various County parks. An employee in this class is responsible for maintaining the grounds at various County parks. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Coordinator. Maintains grounds by mowing and weed eating. May maintain cleanliness of grounds by picking up trash/litter. Adheres to the department's safety rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Some experience in grounds maintenance which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Valid North Carolina Driver License.

Ability to operate mowing and weed eating equipment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other maintenance staff and the general public.

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motions. Must be agile and able to move about freely. Must be able to perform light to medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess visual acuity to operate machines such as lawn mower and weed eater. Must posses the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Worker is subject to outside environmental conditions; exposure to temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour. Worker is subject to noise. Worker is subject to vibration. Worker is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts or exposure to chemicals. Worker is subject to oils and other cutting fluids.
