Lake Thom-A-Lex Park is owned by Cities of Lexington and Thomasville. The park is under the operation of the Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department. The park has undergone major renovation changes over last few years.
April through Before Labor Day: 6:30 am to 8:30 pm
Day After Labor Day through October 31: 7:00 am to 6:30 pm
November 1 through March 31: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The park has four picnic shelters that can be reserved for weekdays and weekends for all types of events. Each shelter has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Shelters can be rented year around. Shelters will not be reserved until someone in the party comes to the Lake Thom-A-Lex Park office and completes a rental form and pays for the shelter.
Shelter Rental Hours:
Shelter can be rented during the following times and dates:
Monday through Sunday: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
**Please note that Bait Shop will be closed daily from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for lunch.**
Shelter rentals are in blocked off times of five and half hours, the following are the time blocks:
April 1 to September 3: 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm
September 4 to October 31: 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
Cost of a shelter is $50.00 for a five and half hour block.
Area fisherman can launch their boats at the access below the Wardens office. The cost to launch a boat is $4.00 plus $2.00 to fish. If you do not own a boat, you can use one of the three floating piers or bank fish for $2.00. All fisherman must have current North Carolina fishing license and lake permit.
Area residents can launch their kayak or canoe for $2.00,
Kayak can now be rented at the park, solo kayak can be rented for $15.00 for 4 hours, and a tandem kayak $25.00 for 4 hours.
Bait Shop is open from April 1 to September 30, visitors can buy drinks, snacks, picnic supplies, and fishing supplies.
No swimming is allowed, the lake is the water source for the Cities of Lexington and Thomasville. No pleasure boating, water skiing, or jet skiing is allowed.
All pets must be leashed and are not allowed in lake and playground area.
