COUNSELING FOR SENIORS


Senior Health Insurance Information Program

S.H.I.I.P. (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) is offered through the NC Insurance Commission and manned by volunteers to help seniors with insurance questions.  This can be questions concerning a policy now in effect or on obtaining an insurance for Medicare Part D for prescriptions.

Get free legal aid at the Lexington Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm and the second Monday of each month at the Thomasville Senior Center also at 2pm. Centeral Carolina Legal Services is free to those that are 60 or older. Call Diane Brady at 1-800-951-2257 to make an appointment. 


Housing Counseling

Get one-on-one discussion with a counseling professional who can help work through housing related problems, and/or attain certain housing goals. The services provided include information, advice, and assistance in areas such as a Reverse Mortgage or Home Equity Conversion Mortgage, pre-purchase counseling for people who hope to buy a home some day, mortgage default counseling, financial management and other forms of housing assistance. The goal is to help you improve your housing conditions and meet the responsibilities of home ownership. Through a partnershipwith Davidson County Community College the Thomasville Senior Center is offering this service free of charge. To schedule an appointment call 336-474-2754.
