In-Home Service Program
The In-Home Service Program provides assistance to individuals and their families by performing personal care and home management tasks. The goal of the program is to assist individual so they can remain in their own homes as long as possible.
Davidson County residents 60 years of age and older who have unmet personal care or home management needs are eligible. Assessments are completed by a Social Worker and Registered Nurse. Frequency of days and hours that services will be provided is based on the developed care plan for each individual. The care plan is carried out by a Certified Nursing Assistant.
In-Home Aides can assist with the following tasks:
- Personal care (bathing, shaving, hair care, dressing, and mouth care)
- Assist with toileting
- Assist with ambulation (walking or wheelchair)
- Light housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wash dishes, laundry, change bed linens)
- Preparation / planning nutritious meals
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Essential shopping (groceries and picking up medications)
- Respite time for caregivers
In-Home Aides are not allowed to provide pet care, yard maintenance, home repairs or heavy duty cleaning.
Clients are not billed for the cost of services provided. Individuals are given the opportunity to share in the cost of the service based on their income. No one is turned away because of their inability to contribute.
