Absentee Ballots by Mail
- Any qualified voter of Davidson County may vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots will be available to mail 50 days prior to any General Election, and 30 days prior to any Municipal Election (GS: 163-227.3) The following relationship to a voter may complete an application for the voter: spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepchild, or legal guardian. Upon receipt of the application, an absentee ballot will be mailed to the voter.
- The letter should include the voter's name, residence address (in the county), address ballot is to be mailed (if different from residence), and relationship to voter if request is being made by a near relative or legal guardian (refer to list above).
- The last day to apply for absentee ballots by mail is 5:00pm on Tuesday prior to election day. Mail all requests to Davidson County Board of Elections, P.O. Box 1084, Lexington NC 27293.
- Qualified voters of Davidson County, or a near relative, may also come to the Board of Elections office, Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, beginning 50 days prior to any Primary or General Election, or 30 days prior to any Municipal Election, to complete an application for an absentee ballot to be mailed to them.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: All by-mail absentee ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections office by 5:00pm the day before the Election. Ballots may be returned either by mail, or hand delivered to the office by a qualified near relative.
Early Voting
Early Voting (No Excuse Absentee) begins the third (3rd) Thursday prior to election day and is open 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday for the next two weeks, and closes at 1:00pm on the Saturday prior to Election Day. Davidson County will conduct early voting at the Board of Elections office located at 912 Greensboro St, Lexington. Please be sure to check the web page titled "EARLY VOTING" for any additional sites and times.
ALL SITES CLOSE 1:00PM SATURDAY prior to any Election.
