Statement of Philosophy and Guiding Principles of Davidson County Government
Davidson County delivers services devoted to excellence, maintaining standards of
professionalism and integrity while enhancing the well-being of our community. Our
Philosophy is Based On:

needs of our citizens

and empowers employees

Davidson County is governed by a seven member commissioned board. These seven
commissioners (shown below) are elected officials chosen to govern
the affairs of Davidson County
in the best interest of its citizens.

County operations are overseen by the County Manager, Robert Hyatt and Assistant County
Manager, Zeb Hanner, Jr. Among his many responsibilities, the
county manager manages the daily operations of the county, meets with community
businesses and leaders, and ensures policies and procedures put forth by County Commissioners are upheld to the
highest standards of excellence. Twenty-six county departments provide day-to-day services (see "County Services Directory") for Davidson County citizens under the
direction of the County Manager and department directors.
Davidson County employees approximately 1000 employees, including full-time and
part-time personnel. The Assistant County Manager prepares the annual budget
(see "Davidson County's Annual Budget") which is presented to the county commissioners
for approval.
