Lake Thom-A-Lex Park is owned by the Cities of Lexington and Thomasville.  The park is under the operation of the Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department.  The park has undergone major renovation changes over the last few years.

Park Hours:
April 1 through September 3: 6:30 am to 8:30 pm
September 4 through October 31: 7:00 am to 6:30 pm
November 1 through March 31: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Picnic Shelters:
New Shelter Policy effective: April 1, 2012
The park has four picnic shelters that can be reserved for weekdays and weekends for all types of events.  Each shelter has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Shelters can be rented from April 1 through October 31. For information about shelter reservations contact the Lake Thom-A-Lex Park at 336-731-6052.  Shelters will not be reserved until someone in the party comes to the Lake Thom-A-Lex Park office and completes a rental form and pays for the shelter.  Shelters can be rented Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, in the bait shop at the park. Shelter rentals are in blocked off time of three hours, the following are the time blocks:
2012 Hours
April 1 to September 3:   10:00 am to 1:00 pm, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
September 4 to October 31: 8:00 am to 11:00 am, 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and 3:00  pm to 6:00 pm
November 1 to March 31: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
 Cost of shelter  is $25.00 for a three hour period.  Payment must be with cash or check only (no credit cards or debit cards) (Please bring correct change if paying by cash).


Fishing:
Area fishermen can launch their boats at the access below the warden office.  The cost to launch at boat is $4.00 plus to $2.00 to fish.  If you do not own a boat, you can use one of the three floating piers or bank fish for $2.00.  All fishermen must have current North Carolina fishing license and lake permit.  Are residents can put in their kayak or canoe for paddling up or down the lake for $2.00.


There is a bait shop that is also open that you can buy drinks, snacks, picnic supplies, and fishing supplies.  Bait Shop is open from April 1 to October 31.

No swimming is allowed, the lake is the water source for the Cities of Lexington and Thomasville.  No pleasure boating, water skiing, or jet skiing is allowed.
