S.H.I.I.P. (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) is offered through the NC Insurance Commission and manned by volunteers to help seniors with insurance questions.  This can be questions concerning a policy now in effect or on obtaining an insurance for Medicare Part D for prescriptions.      


Get free legal aid at the Lexington Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm and the second Monday of each month at the Thomasville Senior Center also at 2pm. Centeral Carolina Legal Services is free to those that are 60 or older. Call Diane Brady at 1-800-951-2257 to make an appointment.


Options counseling is a person-centered, interactive and decision-support process. The main purpose is to help individuals identify and understand their needs.

Counselors help individuals consider a range of possibilities when making a decision about long-term services and support and encourage planning for future needs.

Options Counseling involves building relationships with individuals and helping them to identify their goals and preferences and weigh the pros and cons of their options. This occurs through in-person meetings, possible conversations with family members, and follow-up

Lexington Senior Center - Social Worker is available the 3rd Tuesday of each month, by appointments only to assist with applying for food stamps and Medicaid. Also provide information on emergency assistance and annual low income energy assistance


Offered February - April each year. Volunteer counselors through the tax aide program of AARP are trained in cooperation with the IRS to provide counseling and tax form preparation
