Department Home Department Home Page    Four Charged After Stolen Equipment Found Search  -

On Thursday, 04-28-2011, deputies assigned to the Davidson County Sheriffs Office B&E Task Force stopped a Toyota truck towing a flatbed trailer with no license plate displayed. On the trailer was what appeared to be a new Hustler commercial grade, zero-turn lawn mower. During their contact with the driver, Johnny France of Winston Salem, the deputies learned that the zero-turn lawn mower that Mr. France was transporting was reported stolen from Cabarrus County on 04-22-2011. The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the Thomasville Police Dept. initiated an investigation to determine where Mr. France had gotten the stolen lawn mower. Based on information obtained during the investigation, a detective from the Thomasville Police Department obtained a search warrant for the residence and property located on Lynella Lane in Thomasville, the residence of Tony Lee Thorne, Sr.. During the service of the search warrant, the detective seized a large amount of marijuana and a flatbed trailer reported stolen from Davidson County. Additional information obtained during the investigation led Detectives from the Davidson County Sheriff’s office to Old Embler Rd. and to the area around Thomasville High School. Sheriff’s Detectives learned that the Old Embler Rd. address was the residential address for Tony Ray Thorne, Jr. and Octavia Lori Ann Palmer. At the Old Embler Rd. address, Sheriff’s Detectives located a Covenant brand enclosed cargo trailer that was reported stolen from Old Hwy 52 on 01-07-2011 and an Equipment Pro brand heavy equipment flatbed trailer that was reported stolen from Johnsontown Rd. in Thomasville on 03-05-2011. Inside the enclosed Covenant trailer, Sheriff’s Office detectives located 2 Hustler brand zero-turn lawn mowers that were reported stolen from Cabarrus County on 04-22-2011. At the Thomasville High School location, Sheriff’s Office detectives located an enclosed cargo trailer that was reported stolen from Rowan County on 03-25-2011 and 2 Hustler zero-turn lawn mowers reported stolen from Cabarrus County on 04-22-2011.   As a result of the investigation conducted by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Tony Ray Thorne, Sr., Tony Ray Thorne, Jr. Octavia Lori Ann Palmer, and Johnny Leon France, Jr. were arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into the Davidson County Jail under bonds ranging from $2,000.00 to $50,000.00. Additional charges may be filed by the Thomasville Police Dept. as a result of their investigation.
