On March 22nd and 23rd, 37 middle school teams and 14 high school teams in Area VIII, which is made up of 12 Counties, gathered at Horizons Unlimited to compete in the Southern Piedmont Envirothon. The competition tested their knowledge and skills in the areas of aquatics, current environmental issues, forestry, soils and wildlife. Davidson County had 2 middle school teams and 1 high school team competing in this event. In the middle school competition, the High Rock FFA Brookies placed 1st, and the High Rock Hammerheads placed 7th. In the high school competition, the High Rock Low Expectations placed 1st. All 3 teams are from High Rock Homeschool.
STATE ENVIROTHON WINNERS
Three teams from Davidson County qualified to compete at the State Envirothon Competition on April 29th and 30th at Cedar Rock Park in Alamance County. There were 44 middle school and 44 high school teams from across the State competing. In the middle school competition, The High Rock FFA Brookies placed 1st, and the High Rock Hammerheads placed 9th. In the high school competition, the High Rock Low Expectations placed 2nd.
