Summer Day Camp Program

The Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department offers a four week Summer Day Camp program at three of county's elementary schools including:

  • Davis Townsend
  • Denton
  • Tyro

Our Davis Townsend Summer Day Camp is blended. This location combines children with and without special needs.

 The program is open to children from the age of five to ten years old.

Camp Schedule & Registration

The camps are open from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Drop off at 7:30 a.m. and pick up at 1 p.m. Registration is on a first come first serve basis during operation hours of the playground. Although your child may not attend a certain school during the year, they may register for any of the locations.

Davis Townsend, Denton, and Tyro sites will have lunch only this year.


Staffing & Shoe Requirements

Each location has a full staff and children will be supervised at all times. Campers will have a fun filled day of indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, table games, special events, and more. Children must wear tennis shoes. Absolutely no flip flops, sandals, or crocs. The cost is $20 per week, regardless if they attend 1 day or all 4 days. Smokey The Bear Visits Summer Day Camps

  • The  Carolina Forest Service and Smokey The Bear visited Tyro Summer Day Camp on Thursday, July 18, 2019. To teach kids the importance of fire safety.
  • Forest Service and Smokey The Bear will be visiting Davis Townsend Summer Day Camp on Monday, July 29.
