The Davidson County Sheriff's Office has eight full time detectives dedicated to the eradication of illegal drugs in Davidson County. These detectives work tirelessly to protect and rid our communities of these dangerous drugs. Partnering with local, state and federal agencies to investigate and apprehend drug users, sellers and manufacturers.
Each of the 8 Vice / Narcotics detectives are federally sworn Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officers. They have the same investigative and arrest powers as a full time agent with Homeland Security. Our Vice unit works closely with the SBI, ATF & DEA as well as numerous local agencies.
Captain Varner started his law enforcement career with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office in 1996. Captain Varner joined the Davidson County Sheriff's Office as a patrol deputy in 2001. In 2008, Captain Varner was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Captain Varner was then promoted to Patrol Lieutenant in late 2010. Captain Varner was promoted to his current assignment in mid 2017. Captain Varner has been a member of the Davidson County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team, Breaking & Entering Task Force and K-9 Unit.
