Crime Scene Investigations & Evidence Control

Crime scene analysis and investigations have become especially technical and scientific in nature. The Davidson County Sheriff's Office has three extensively trained technicians that provide specialized skill to assist the patrol and criminal investigation divisions.

The unit, supervised by Sgt. Tony Yon, provides the Sheriff's Office with specialized photography and videography, fingerprint research and identification, technical assistance, evidence seizure and storage, and training personnel of evidence collection procedures.

There are two classifications of property that the Sheriff's Office keeps and maintains, seized and found. During criminal investigations property is seized by deputies and detectives to serve as evidence in court proceedings. Found property is property in which a citizen or deputy finds and is unable to locate the owner. All evidence and property is packaged, logged and stored in the Evidence unit.

All seized property will be held until the case is disposed of in the judicial system. A court order must be signed by a judge for seized property to be released. If the Evidence & Property Control unit receives a court order to return your property you will be contacted through US Mail.
