Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Virus, the 2020 Resource Conservation Workshop previously scheduled for the week of June 21st - 26th at NC State University has been cancelled.
NC State University has cancelled their summer programs to protect the health and safety of all participants, volunteers, and staff to prevent the spread of this virus.
This would have been the 57th annual RCW for North Carolina. Some fifty years ago, the RCW was comprised mostly of boys coming from rural Counties to the 'big city' to experience university life and hopefully learn more about resource conservation and careers associated with the field.
Today's group of students are pretty well divided between girls and boys, as well as between rural and urban areas. Students now are learning about a wider range of natural resources, scientific topics and the careers associated with the expanded curriculum.
The NC Division of Soil & Water Conservation and the NC Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts have co-workers who attended the Resource Conservation Workshop way back when. The RCW week at NC State University has influenced and stayed with students throughout their lifetimes.
We are proud to be sponsors of this great, life-changing event in reaching out to our young people and helping them to understand the importance of conserving the world around them.
