2018 Envirothon Competitions

AREA VIII SOUTHERN PIEDMONT ENVIROTHON COMPETITION

On March 20th and 21st, 17 middle school teams and 19 high school teams from the Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Area VIII gathered at The Center for the Environment at Catawba College to compete in the Southern Piedmont Envirothon.  The competition tested their knowledge in the areas of aquatics, current environmental issues, forestry, soils, and wildlife.  Davidson County had 5 middle school teams and 2 high school teams competing in this event.

In the Middle School Competition, the High Rock Howling Honey Badgers placed 1st, and the High Rock Pine People placed 3rd, both teams are from Davidson County Home School.  Tyro Middle School had 3 teams competing, The Green Machine, Eco Dragons, and The Dirt Dragons. 

In the High School Competition, the High Rock Mighty Honey Bees from Davidson County Home School placed 1st, and The Green Monarch's from West Davidson High School placed 7th.  


NC STATE ENVIROTHON COMPETITION 

2 middle school teams and 2 high school teams from Davidson County qualified to compete at the NC State Envirothon Competition. It was held at Cedar Rock Park in Alamance County on May 3rd and 4th, where 50 middle school teams and 48 high school teams competed.  

In the Middle School Competition, the High Rock Howling Honey Bees of Davidson County Home School placed 1st.  In the High School Competition, the High Rock Mighty Honey Bees also of Davidson County Home School came in 2nd place.   Congratulations to each of you for your accomplishments!

The Mighty Honey Bees H-S Team are David Soltani, Alicia Greer, Richard Tysinger, Reagan Dunn, Isaiah Remole, and Gracie Ward.
