Animal Control Officers are responsible for protecting the public by enforcing state laws and local ordinances concerning animals. These includes domestic dogs running at large, stray animals, rabies control, and the investigation of animal cruelty complaints.

EMERGENCY AFTER HOURS CALLS

After hours emergency calls include - vicious animals, severe animal attacks, sick or strange-acting animals, or animals taken into care due to a traffic stop or arrest. Due to staffing, law enforcement makes the initial after hours response and determines if animal control is needed or if the situation can be resolved.

STRAY ANIMALS AND ANIMAL WELFARE INVESTIGATIONS

Stray animals and animal welfare investigations are conducted during weekday work hours. After hours/weekend will be made based upon emergency criteria. Animal Control will respond to after hours calls at the request of on scene law enforcement officers.
