Programming and Special Events

Welcome to Davidson County Parks and Recreation Programming and Special Events page. Parks and Recreation offers a variety of leisure programs and special events for the citizens of the county to enjoy and live a healthier life. We offer several free day programs though out the week and working on expanding our night programs. Please see the flyers below for the details.

All programming classes are held at Davidson County West Center Street Campus and Special Events take place throughout the County Park system.

 Go to your phone apps and download Team Reach.  Once downloaded, enter the Group Code: NCDAVIDSON100.  Enter your name, email and phone number…this is confidential information that is not accessible by Davidson County Parks and Recreation or the support
team.  This will get you entry to the pickleball schedule for this location.

Disc Golf
Parks and Recreation has two public disc golf courses in the County. Both courses are 18 holes. 
Welborn Woods at Hughes Park- 8500 East Holly Grove Road, Thomasville, NC 272360
The Cave at Boone's Cave Park- 3552 Boone's Cave Road, Lexington, NC 27292
Both courses have gravel tee boxes. Hughes Park is a mixture of open and wooded holes. The Cave is a wooded course. Both courses have moderate length holes.
Both courses are opened 7 days a week, unless there is inclement weather.
Currently, the Department offers two Disc Golf tournaments: Leprechaun Classic at Hughes Park (March) and Fireworks Frenzy at Hughes Park (June/July).

Junk Journal Workshop
Create your own beautiful handmade junk journal in this 6-hour, hands-on workshop!
During this workshop, you'll learn how to:
Coffee dye papers, assemble a journal signature, create a custom journal cover, embellish and personalize your journal, all supplies and tools included
Cost: $50 per person. 
A potluck lunch is included. Feel free to bring a side dish to share!

🏓 Introduction to Pickleball 101
Interested in learning one of the fastest-growing sports in the country? Join Davidson County Parks & Recreation for an Introduction to Pickleball class!
📅 Dates: September 8-October 20 (No class on September 22)
⏰ Time: Tuesdays at 6:00 PM
💲 Cost: $100 for the 6-week course

This beginner course will teach the fundamentals of pickleball in a fun and supportive environment.
