Resource Conservation Workshop

The Resource Conservation Workshop is a week-long workshop for high school students to spend time in the field learning about our natural resources and their management in today’s environment. The workshop takes place during the last week of June on the campus of the North Carolina State University in Raleigh. 

Participants meet and receive guidance from natural resource professionals, win cash awards and scholarship money, and so much more.

  • North Carolina Soil and Water Conservation Commission
  • North Carolina State University Soil Science Department

Application & Expenses

Students with special interests and aptitudes in conservation areas are eligible to enter their applications to attend the workshop. Adult counselors will be provided on the basis of one counselor for each 7 to 8 students. Rising juniors or rising seniors may apply.

Davidson Soil and Water Conservation District will assume the expenses for the student or students attending. Each delegate will be covered by insurance both on and off campus throughout the duration of the workshop. Students are housed on campus and meals are provided.

The Davidson Soil and Water Conservation District and Board of Supervisors will select and sponsor anywhere from one to four students to attend the Resource Conservation Workshop each year.
